Research on Armenian architecture Foundation (RAA) published on its Facebook page a message about the next act of cultural genocide in Turkey.
Resident Leon Giritlyan noticed the blasphemous use of a tombstone as an element in a fountain in a village in Turkey. On December 15, he complained to the authorities and to the General Department of cultural monuments and museums of Turkey. The tombstone was stolen from a destroyed Armenian cemetery in the village of Karsak, inhabited by Armenians before the Armenian Genocide, in the Bursa region.
This tombstone was installed in the fountain in 1999. On December 17, the above mentioned Department handed over the tombstone to the city museum of Iznik.
Deputy Director of the Department Yahya Joshkun proudly reported on the work done.
Earlier there was a case when one Kurd man boasted to the Armenians of “preserving” the Armenian heritage, pointing to ancient khachkars attached to the fence of his house in one of the villages of the Karchkan region of Western Armenia. They answered him: “You have destroyed the thousand-year-old culture of an entire nation, and now you shamelessly demand gratitude for saving their crumbs?”
The inscription on the tombstone:
Tomb of Karapet Talpizyan
He was a hardworking farmer, rest in peace.
Born in 1844, died in 1904
