“Baku, 1918. Continuation of the policy of the Armenian Genocide in Azerbaijan …” (To the 100th anniversary of the memory of the victims of the Armenian massacres in September 1918 in Baku)

14-15 September 2018 in Yerevan will be held an International scientific-practical conference “Baku, 1918. Continuation of the policy of the Armenian Genocide in Azerbaijan …” (To the 100th anniversary of the memory of the victims of the Armenian massacres in September 1918 in Baku). The organizer is the Institute of History of the National Academy of sciences of Armenia.

In the conference will participate scholars, researchers, and government representatives, public figures from the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Artsakh and different countries, as well as from the Armenian Diaspora.

This is the first conference on this topic. The subject of discussions at the conference will be: genocidal acts and policy of Azerbaijan against the Armenian people during the century since 1918, considered in conjunction with the genocidal acts and policies of Turkey. It was a single process, with a single scenario and a common pan-Turkic goal against the Armenian people.

The urgency of the topic and the need for a scientific and historical approach to call things by their proper names are due not only to the factors of justice, the memory of the victims and the protection of the rights of refugees, but also due to the need to confront the ongoing military threats and the criminal acts of the tandem of the two Turkish states, confront the streams of total lies and falsifications of this tandem. The planned conference is a practical step in the light of the UN Program on Awareness and prevention of genocides.

The conference starts at 10:00 on September 14 and 15, this year, registration is from 9:30. At the end of the conference, participants will lay flowers at the memorial complex of the victims and visit the Museum-Institute of the Armenian Genocide.

The Organizing Committee of the conference invites all interested persons to participate in the conference – both speakers and listeners. The opportunity to apply (with abstracts) for participation as a speaker is available until August 4, 2018. Students and post-graduate students are also invited to participate in the conference. Information on the requirements for publishing materials can be obtained upon request.
