On November 2-3, 2021, an international online conference “The UN responsibility for the protection of the cultural heritage of ancient peoples from cultural genocide” was held in St. Petersburg, Russia https://aga-tribunal.info/en/conf-2-11-2021-en/
Resolution
Most of the conference participants agreed with the following:
- Cultural genocide, having various forms and manifestations, including the propaganda of hate speech at the state level, falsification of history for the appropriation of cultural heritage objects, is a special component of the crime of genocide, however culturicide is not sufficiently represented in international law.
- The efforts of the UN, UN member states, international organizations are insufficient to counter genocidal policies, prevent crimes of genocide, condemn criminals, and due to flaws in the law even contribute to crimes, especially on problems related to the cultural heritage of a few ancient peoples (Assyrians, Greeks in Cyprus, Yezidis, Armenian and others).
- At the heart of many crimes of genocide, culturicide is the ideology of radical Pan-Turkism in various forms.
- The image of the Artsakh-Azerbaijan conflict is misrepresented in media, misunderstood by the international community and is not sufficiently being represented by the authorized structures of Armenia, it has more than a century of history of continuing unpunished crimes by Azerbaijan and silenced by the world and the powers, many of these crimes qualify as the crime of genocide.
- The latest treacherous terrorist aggression on the Republic of Artsakh by a coalition of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, jihadist squads with the support of Israel, in fact, is another genocidal crime, as well as the continued acts of culturicide by Azerbaijan during the year after November 9, 2020.
- In the conditions when the weak authorities of Armenia are subjected to disproportionate pressure from a number of countries and world centers of power, in the conditions of chaos and crisis threatening new crimes of genocide, Armenian public organizations, communities and public figures should be active at all platforms from local to the UN in promoting the truth and legitimate rights of the Armenian people, in exposing and resisting lies, falsifications by the authorities of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Israel and their henchmen and hirelings in various countries, organizations and media,
- Armenian organizations and experts, as well as representatives of peoples who have suffered from the crimes of genocide or are suffering from the consequences of genocide, especially small ancient peoples, are urged to consolidate into a specialized International Expert Group on the crimes of genocide and culturicide, which is being created.
