In the last few days, tensions in the border areas of Artsakh have gained new momentum. Azerbaijan has been firing intensively, using grenades, particularly in the villages of Khramort, Nakhichanik-Parukh in the Askeran region, Khnushinak, Karmir Shuka and Taghavard in the Martuni region.
Such provocative actions by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan are aimed both at intimidating the people of Artsakh and keeping them in constant alarm, as well as at undermining the mission and authority of the Russian peacekeeping forces.
The Republic of Artsakh National Assembly strongly condemns the aggressive and terrorist acts of Azerbaijan against Artsakh by targeting the settlements of the Artsakh Republic, psychological and informational pressures on the civilian population, obstructing the repair works on the only gas pipeline supplying Artsakh with natural gas.
Thus, official Baku continues its anti-Armenian policy, undermining the fragile peace and stability in the region, which once again “proves that Azerbaijan is not ready to establish lasting peace in the region.”
Artsakh Parliament urges OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, UN and relevant bodies to adequately assess the behavior of Artsakh and make efforts to curb such criminal aggression.
The current situation once again indicates that the recognition of the right of the people of Artsakh to live safely and to have an independent statehood is the only correct, non-alternative and civilized solution.
