In 2018, in the year of the 30th anniversary of the genocidal acts in Sumgait there was no conference on this issue. In February, the Armenian Parliament held a 5-hour Hearings but as a result adopted a shameful text of the statement without words of genocide and refugees. There were no words in the speech of the former foreign minister on Memorial Day on February 28.

This year is also the 100th anniversary of the massacres in Baku in September 1918.

Also, no conference was planned. In contrast to Armenia, Azerbaijan held two conferences in March in connection with the fictitious “100th anniversary of the genocide of Azerbaijanis by Armenians” (according to the decree of Heydar Aliyev since 1998 they distribute all around the world that the suppression of the provocative armed mutiny of the Azerbaijani Musavatists in March 1918 by Stepan Shaumyan and the Dashnaks was a genocide). Baku is planning more events this year on this topic.

Since the end of 2016 started a new stage of the Movement for the legal recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Azerbaijan

The representative of this Movement Vahan Babakhanyan suggests holding such a conference.

Preliminary name: “Baku, 1918. The genocidal policy of Azerbaijan against the Armenian people continues …” Date: September 14, 2018. One of the goals of the conference is to scientifically historically prove the genocidal policy and many acts of genocide against Armenians in Azerbaijan, the fact of a unified pan-Turkic process of two Turkish states, to raise the issue of recognition at the international level. This is important not only for justice, not only for the issue of reparations, but also for ending the immoral symmetric attitude of the world public and countries to Armenia (the object of centennial genocidal crimes and aggression) and Azerbaijan (a genocidal state, an aggressor that continues genocidal policy and plans in tandem with Turkey) .

I would like to note that in 2015 no one spoke about the genocidal policy and acts of Azerbaijan at a major global forum on genocide in Yerevan. About the genocidal plans of Azerbaijan against the Armenians of Artsakh was only in the speech of Baroness Caroline Cox.

It is important to invite the experts from outside of Armenia to participate in the proposed conference. I ask to inform in timely manner, who from the familiar experts would be able to participate, and also to support the holding of this important conference.
